Thank You Spicewood for 20 Years!
As a thank you to our Spicewood Community for 20 years of support we are sponsoring a FREE performance at Angel’s Icehouse on October 12, 2019 from 7pm – 10pm. No need to register and no tickets necessary-just come enjoy Pauline Reese & John Arthur Martinez & band.
From a fifteen-year-old beginner to an all-star singer who can hold her own with Willie Nelson, Pauline Reese deserves her place in the spotlight.
Along the way, she’s written songs with legendary songwriters like Sonny Throckmorton and Merle Haggard’s sidekick Freddy Powers, and honed guitar, vocals and showmanship skills while working odd jobs (like making titanium kneecaps).
Performing 170 concerts a year, Pauline steadily earned a fan base that allowed her to grow from opening act to headliner. She performed at two of Willie’s Farm Aid festivals that included Dave Matthews and other greats and six of Willie’s fabled Fourth of July Picnics.
Her albums have brought critical acclaim since her debut album in 1999. Willie joined her for a duet on “Pick Up the Pieces” on her 2004 CD The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. The Texas Music Awards bestowed Album of the Year honors on her 2007 CD Too Texas, a collection of her classics and others’. Her sixth CD, Just Getting Started, reveals Pauline’s growth as an artist in a powerful collection that reflects a life lived to its fullest – from a leaving a rocky marriage to finding new love and a new role as a wife and mother with all the highs and lows in between.
John Arthur Martinez
John Arthur Martinez Country-Americana-Tex-Mex Award winning artist, john Arthur martinez, is one of the Lone Star State’s favorite singer-songwriters and when the stage lights shine, he and his band bring it!
From the Country Rendezvous in France with Mark Chesnutt & The Greencards, to the Grand Ole Opry with Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban & Charlie Pride, to his birthplace of Austin, Texas with Elton John, Reuben Ramos and Asleep at the Wheel, he’s proven his music grades on stages all over the world.
His flowing melodies carry stories told by a true Texas songwriter. His songs have been covered by the likes of Alan Jackson, Flaco Jimenez, Raul Malo and many independent artists. But when he covers a song like “When You Say Nothing At All,” which charted on Billboard, he gives it his own twist. His bilingual version of “Amarillo by Morning” is seen in dance videos from Dallas to South Korea.
