Let’s Celebrate Texas Independence Day (a day late) with a Lady Bird Trek!

Spring Art Trek – Thurs., March 3, 2022

Austin, TX

$155 per ticket

Due to COVID-19, we will be limiting ticket sales at this time to 20 guests. We will add capacity at a later date if current guidelines allow us to do so.

We will leave Barton Creek Lakeside Country Club parking lot at 9:00 a.m. and return by 5:30 p.m.

How better to celebrate Texas than with the exhibit, “Lady Bird: Beyond the Wildflowers,” at the LBJ Library? Although she is most often known for promoting environmental conservation and the wildflowers that brighten the country’s landscape, this exhibition tells a broader story of Mrs. Johnson. It gives visitors a view into her education, her family, her campaign efforts, her acumen as a businesswoman, her leadership in environmental conservation, and her role as a philanthropist.

We will begin our day at the library, followed by lunch at the Cookbook Bar and Café at the Austin Public Library. The café houses over 500 cookbooks from which the chef chooses his seasonal menus. Dining can be inside or on the patio.

Continuing with our Lady Bird theme, we will spend the next few hours at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center where docents will guide us on a tour. Afterward, there will be time for exploring the area and for shopping in the gift store.

The day will end with a libation at Deep Eddy’s Vodka Distillery in Dripping Springs.

Please join us for our Texas celebration! It will be a fun-packed day with a short bus ride.

Art and Architecture in Historic San Antonio

Spring Art Trek #2 – Thurs., April 21, 2022

San Antonio, TX

$170 per ticket

Due to COVID-19, we will be limiting ticket sales at this time to 20 guests. We will add capacity at a later date if current guidelines allow us to do so.

We will leave Barton Creek Lakeside Country Club parking lot at 8:00 a.m. Return time TBD.

The trek will begin at the Briscoe Western Art Museum where docents will lead a tour. They have a phenomenal collection of bronze sculptures in the McNutt Sculpture Garden, as well as inside the museum. The museum has three floors of paintings, sculptures, and artifacts of the American West.

We will embark on a chartered boat to take an art and architecture tour on the river. Our tour guide is an architectural professor and a lifelong resident of San Antonio. The river trip will be approximately 2 hours long ending in the historic Pearl District.

The 23-acre brewery site was purchased by a San Antonio-based investment firm in 2001 with extensive plans to create a mixed-use development. Today the Pearl District includes restaurants, boutiques, and the stunning Hotel Emma, a boutique hotel. It is a lovely area with a rich history that our guide will share with us.

Yes, there will be lunch and a libation at the end of the day. Plans for those are still in the works. There will be an updated itinerary as soon as the details are firm.

It will be a long day, but we will be going at a leisurely pace. Please join us for the fun!
