Introducing the 2024 Spicewood Arts Scholars!
Spicewood Arts announces four winners of the Spicewood Scholars selected from the graduating senior classes of Lake Travis and Marble Falls High Schools and eleven returning winners of previous scholarships. Each receives up to a $1,500 award.
All have passed a rigorous grading process requiring them to submit samples of their work, show classes in the arts, competitions, grades, and financial needs. Each student will be pursuing further studies in arts-related fields.
With this year’s awards, Spicewood Arts has awarded more than $175,000 and the number of scholarships given yearly has more than doubled. The scholarships are supported by the Spicewood Arts annual fundraiser in February and individual donations throughout the year.

Tabitha Anstey
Lake Travis High School
Tabitha will be attending The University of Texas at Austin in the fall, majoring in Design. I have a passion for ceramics and industrial design. I have competed in many competitions, including VASE and The Scholastic Art Competition, winning gold seals and silver keys. I am extremely excited to continue my career in art at UT!
Roselyn Arredondo
Marble Falls High School
Roselyn is a graduate of Marble Falls High School and is currently pursuing a degree in Architecture at Rice University. In her free time, she enjoys reading, drawing, and studying languages.
Cash Bourgoyne
Lake Travis High School
Cash was born in San Jose, California, but has spent most of my childhood in Austin. He has been an avid musician—performer, writer, and producer—for most of his life. Since the pandemic, he’s been learning music production to create his own music and to produce projects for friends and school. Additionally, he has taken classes in film, computer science, and French language. This fall, he’ll be studying audio engineering at Belmont University in Nashville.

Marble Falls High School
Sophia, a senior from Spicewood, TX, has just graduated in the top ten percent of her class at Marble Falls High School. Throughout high school, she has been involved in sports, the arts, and her local church. This fall, she will be attending the University of Texas at Austin. She hopes to pursue teaching to make a positive impact on the lives of students and continue serving the community in any way she can.

Emma Boerm
Marble Falls High School
Emma began writing and performing as a child, discovering a love for storytelling through music and literature. She’s performed in almost thirty theatre productions and music performances and has written two dozen short stories. She received a Scholastic Art and Writing Gold Key for her writing. Her performance in The Wizard of Oz also earned her a Heller Ann Award nomination for best lead female in a musical. In the fall, she will be attending Abilene Christian University majoring in Advertising and Public Relations and minoring in music. In the future, she hopes to work in publishing and editing and continue to pursue music. She is incredibly grateful to her family for supporting her creative endeavors.
Erin Faehnle
Marble Falls High School
Aaron will begin attending UT San Antonio in the fall as a music education major. He is an accomplished percussionist with many awards to show for it. Aaron has also shown ability in voice, composing, guitar, and piano. His initial aim is to become a high school music teacher. He would like this to be a step toward his ultimate goal of becoming a band director.

Next year I will be attending the University of North Texas as a music education major! I love singing and being in choir and I am so excited to one day become a choir director!
Madison Macliver
Lake Travis High School
Madison currently serves as the LTHS Cavallete captain. She plans to attend Texas A&M University In the fall to major in Marketing and Communications. Madison will also try out for the Texas Aggie Dance Team and further her career in the fine arts.
Maia Pacini
Marble Falls High School
Maia will be attending the University of North Texas double majoring in English and Technical Communication. Maia currently serves as her band’s head drum major and National Art Honor Society president. She has also received numerous gold medals at the region and state solo and ensemble contests and VASE. In the future, Maia plans to stay involved in music through the UNT Green Brigade and continue making art through clubs and organizations.
Aerin Taylor
Lake Travis High School
Aerin will be attending the University of North Texas with a major in Music Education. Aerin has been a French Horn player for 7 years and has been a member of the Lake Travis High School Wind Ensemble for the last 3 years, recording and competing in numerous competitions. They were also a member of CACHE-23, the winning Horn Quartet in the 54th International Horn Society Pre-University Horn Quartet Competition. Along with French Horn, Aerin plays guitar and piano in their free time. They intend to teach music and continue playing French Horn after college.

All have passed a rigorous grading process requiring them to submit samples of their work, show classes in the arts, competitions, and other awards, and were ranked by grades earned. Each student will be pursuing further studies in arts-related fields.

Maile Carballo
Lake Travis High School
Maile will be attending the University of Texas at Austin this fall majoring in Advertising. Maile holds the position of president of the Marble Falls National Art Honor Society chapter as well as president of Business Professionals of America. She has earned 3 gold medals in the VASE art competition. Her BPA video production team also placed 3rd in state at the Texas BPA Leadership Conference. Going forward, Maile hopes to work as a DJ & Lead Graphic Designer at the UT KVRX radio station. She also plans to join Texas Creative, a world-renowned creative advertising program offered through Moody College.
Reese Moomaw
Marble Falls High School
Reese will be attending Dallas Christian College with a major in Education and Biblical Studies. She will shadow her soccer coach who is an elementary art teacher. Throughout her education in Marble Falls, she has received multiple awards for how she performs in the classroom. Her goal for the future is to return to Marble Falls after she graduates to teach art.

Marble Falls High School
Kamila will attend Texas Woman’s University, majoring in graphic design. In high school, she was a member of the National Art Society and was as active in music as in art. She is accomplished on the trumpet.
Dakota Evans
Lake Travis High School
Dakota will attend UT Austin, majoring in architecture. In high school, she was a member of the National Honor Society and the National Art Society. She was active in theater and a member of the swim team.
Madison Jensen
Lake Travis High School
Madison loves many types of art, from painting and drawing to crocheting and embossing. She has won a Scholastic national silver key, and numerous regional gold and silver keys. Madison hopes to become an animator in the future. Madison will be attending Brigham Young University this fall.

Lake Travis High School
Kerry Lum is a multimedia artist. She is going to Duke University next fall, where she will be double majoring in film and English. In the future, she plans on working in a field related to film and English.

Chloe will attend Savannah College of Art and Design, majoring in graphic design with a minor in photography. In high school, she was a member of the National Honor Society and presented works in many art exhibitions, and even started her own photography business.

Olivia Carter
Lake Travis High School
Olivia will attend UT-Austin, majoring in (RTF) Radio, Television and Film. Olivia has already written, directed and produced award-winning films in numerous competitions in Texas and beyond. She was a featured artist in an Austin American-Statesman article on Reel in the Votes Film Festival and on KOOP Radio for Girl Improved Film and Theater Festival. She volunteers at the SAFE Alliance and Lake Pointe Elementary, adding to volunteer work at Tune Into Teens and the Lake Hills Church.
Callie Flores
Lake Travis High School
Callie will attend the Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY, with a major in Painting and a minor in Creative Writing. Callie’s art has garnered perfect scores and a medal in VASE competitions for 2021 as well as Gold and Silver Keys in regional Scholastic Art and Writing contests. She created, produced, wrote, and performed her podcast, Bloodlines, from 2020 to the present. A vice-president for the National Art Honor Society and a teacher’s aide, she was also editor in chief of Lake Travis’ Literary Magazine.
Macy Dot Neal
Lake Travis High School
Macy will major in Songwriting and Music Business at Belmont University. She is becoming a major talent in country music, winning the Texas Country Music Association’s 2020 Young Artist of the Year and chosen as top 5 finalist for the previous four years. A member of the National Honor Society and Senior Yearbook Editor, she’s also a varsity cheerleader and was voted “Most Likely to Win a Grammy” by the current squad. She donates her talent and time to help people in the community.
Jared Sierra
Marble Falls High School
Jared will attend UT-Butler School of Music as a Music Performance Major. Jared started playing trombone in the sixth grade and hasn’t stopped since. He’s gathered numerous awards, including regional band, region jazz band, the All-State Jazz Ensemble, and superior ratings all four years. Currently he’s the drum major for the Mighty Mustang Marching Band. He plays bass trombone in the professional Armadillo Swing Band and The Flashbacks, as well as the Seth Shaw Quartet. He teaches free lessons at the high school and volunteers as a counselor for after school music and art clubs for Marble Falls Middle School.
Claire Thessen
Lake Travis High School
Claire plans to attend Texas A & M, school of architecture majoring in architecture and studying animation. With a perfect 4.0 GPA and fluency in Spanish, Claire is Historian for the National Honor Society and helped found the National Spanish Honor Society, serving as its Creative Director. She tutors students and designed a mural for the high school celebrating Hispanic art and culture. She was a 2020 double Gold Key recipient for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards and a 5-time Rating 4 Medalist at the Texas State VASE Art Competition.
Eula Tomamao
Marble Falls High School
Eula will attend UT-Austin majoring in Arts and Entertainment. Eula’s middle school experiences led to her love of music and theatre. She plays the marimba and competed in the University Interscholastic League’s Solo and Ensemble competition, earning a Division 1 rating and advancing to state. Beginning as a lead actress in middle school productions, directors at MFHS later recognized her talent in digital drawing and she became a technician, creating award-winning costume designs, projections and posters. She’ll be pursuing animation at UT and acquiring more theatre-related skills, aimed toward someday producing and directing.

Introducing the 2020 Spicewood Arts Scholars!
It was an end to the school year like no one anticipated, but our incredible 2020 Spicewood Scholars haven’t let anything stop them in their pursuit of excellence. We are very proud to present these five amazing graduating seniors and four talented alumni. They’re a credit to their schools and community!
Thanks to your generous gifts at our fundraiser and beyond, we’ve been able to continue a tradition that’s grown through the years. Each student demonstrated a deep commitment to the arts and awesome talent, gathering awards too many to list.

Abigail Storm
Lake Travis High School
Abigail will attend Ball State University majoring in musical theater. Also an outstanding performer in choir and theater through high school, she won honors at All-State Choir and Texoma Nationals and starred in a production at Hill Country Theater. She’s a congregational music leader at her church and will pursue musical theater as her career.
Edith Frank
Marble Falls High School
Edith Frank will attend Tarleton State University, majoring in performance. A gifted flutist while in band throughout high school, Edith was chosen an MFHS Outstanding Musician and performed at the Tarleton Jazz Festival, among many other honors. She plans to become a high school band director.
Emma Morelli
Lake Travis High School
Emma Morelli will attend Baylor University’s School of Music, majoring in music education. She is an outstanding performer in choir and theater and also has been on mission trips with her church. Emma has won state honors, sang in the Belle Tones and Mad Cavs, and starred in Matilda. She wants to pass on her love of music through teaching.
Isabelle Fontaine
Lake Travis High School
Isabelle will major in film at the Savannah College of Art and Design. “Izzy” is a passionate student of art and design, having already accepted commissions and participating in the Young Filmmakers Competition. Her goal is to become multi-skilled in film and animation, producing her own works.
Layne Bruce
Lake Travis High School
Layne will attend Mannes School of Music, majoring in classical music and composition. Layne has already composed pieces and is a talented drummer, as well as a virtuoso pianist. His dream is to perform and compose music for classical ensembles, film, and video.
